Imagine you want to cover your classroom floor with colorful square tiles. The total amount of space covered by those tiles is called the AREA!
Area measures the flat space filled inside a boundary.
We count how many standard square tiles fit inside.
Perimeter is the outer border. Area is the inside surface!

To easily measure area, we divide shapes into Rows (left to right) and Columns (top to bottom) of equal square tiles!
Area simply means counting ALL the square tiles packed inside!

You don't always have to count every single square one by one! Follow these 3 easy steps:
Find out how long the shape is along the top or bottom.
Find out how wide or tall the shape is along the side.
Multiply Length × Breadth to get total Area instantly!
A rectangle has 2 longer sides (Length) and 2 shorter sides (Breadth).
A = L × B
A square has 4 equal sides! So length and breadth are identical.
A = Side²
📌 Important Golden Rule: Always write your final answer in Square Units (such as cm² or m²)!

Answer: YES! Consider Shape A (Rectangle 5cm × 1cm: Perimeter = 12cm, Area = 5cm²) and Shape B (Rectangle 3cm × 3cm: Perimeter = 12cm, Area = 9cm²). Same perimeter, totally different areas!
Answer: The Area becomes 4 TIMES bigger! For example, a 2cm square has area 4cm². If side becomes 4cm, area becomes 16cm²!
Answer: Centimeters only measure length in a straight line (1D). Area measures a 2-dimensional surface, so we need 2D square tiles (cm²)!
Answer: Exactly HALF the area of the rectangle!
Answer: 32 cm². (Each square has area 16 cm², so 16 + 16 = 32 cm²).
A classroom floor is 8 m long and 6 m wide. What is its total area?
Sol: Area = 8 × 6 = 48 m²
A square flower garden has a side length of 5 m. Find the total area for planting flowers.
Sol: Area = 5 × 5 = 25 m²
A rectangular swimming pool is 12 m long and 5 m wide. How big should the pool cover be?
